One of the perks of staying at D Sands? You don’t have to eat out every meal—unless you want to. Every unit comes with a fully stocked kitchenette, ready for anything from a quick breakfast to a full family feast. Here’s how to make the most of it.

Your kitchenette is already fully stocked with essentials
Your kitchenette already has the essentials—pots, pans, utensils, dishes, glassware, and more—so no need to pack or purchase cookware. Just bring your groceries and you’re ready to go.
We have a few local stores on the north end of town, including the new 1st Choice Fresh Market, as well as a Safeway and Grocery Outlet, along with a Bi-Mart and McKay’s Market just down the road. Need last-minute items? Sea Gulp across the street has a smaller selection, along with fun souvenirs and custom sandwiches for when you don’t feel like cooking.
Keep it simple on arrival night
After a day of travel, keep dinner easy: pasta, pizza, or a salad with bread and cheese. Save your more ambitious cooking for night two, when you’ve had time to settle in and explore.
Shop local for fresh flavor
Lincoln City has plenty of markets and specialty shops. For seafood, head to Barnacle Bills Seafood Market for the freshest seafood caught in our own backyard. If you’re visiting over the weekend, the Lincoln City Sunday Market has locally grown produce that is much better quality than what you will find in most grocery stores.
Cooking with local ingredients not only tastes better—it makes the meal part of your vacation experience.
Enjoy the ocean views from your kitchenette
Most units have dining areas and comfy seating that already face the ocean. You can even spot the waves while cooking in the kitchen.
The balcony’s great for a quick bite or a toast at sunset. However, for full meals, settle in where you’ve got more space to spread out.
Mind the aromas
Seafood is delicious, but it can be… memorable. If you’re cooking something with a strong smell, crack a window or run the fan so the scent doesn’t linger longer than your vacation. And while we encourage guests to enjoy the fresh catch from our local markets, we do ask that you refrain from cooking crab or lobster in our units. The aroma tends to stick around for days, and not everyone loves the “coastal perfume” as much as you might. Your future self (and the next guests) will thank you.
Think beyond dinner
Your kitchenette is perfect for more than just evening meals. Use it for a sunrise breakfast, a midday snack, or even a cozy afternoon baking session if the weather turns.
Start with coffee
Every kitchenette at D Sands comes with a coffee pot. We provide complimentary coffee so you can skip the early morning scramble to find your first cup. Brew a pot and enjoy it in your oceanfront seating area while you watch the waves.
Clean the kitchenette as you go
Counter space is precious in a kitchenette. Washing dishes and wiping down surfaces as you cook keeps the space organized and makes post-dinner cleanup a breeze.
Bottom line: One of the best parts of staying at D Sands is the freedom to enjoy the coast your way—and that includes cooking. With a fully stocked kitchenette in every unit, you can skip the hassle of packing cookware or figuring out how to improvise a meal with a single pan. Whether it’s a quick breakfast before a day of beachcombing or just heating up leftovers while you watch the waves, you’ve got everything you need at your fingertips.
Keep it simple on arrival night, shop local when you can, and make the most of those ocean views from your dining area or kitchen. Just remember: a little ventilation goes a long way, and crab or lobster are best left to the pros at our nearby restaurants. Cook smart, clean as you go, and you’ll find that a meal here isn’t just food—it’s part of the coastal experience.
