Make the Most of Your Pet-Friendly Stay at D Sands

At D Sands Rentals, we believe vacations are better with paws on the sand. If you’re planning to bring your four-legged family member along for your Lincoln City getaway, here are some pet friendly tips to make your stay smoother, safer, and tail-waggingly fun—for both of you.

1. Make use of our dedicated pet area

Before we talk about beach walks, let’s start close to home. D Sands has a dedicated pet area designed to give your dog a place to sniff, stretch, and… take care of business. Please use it! It helps keep our shared spaces clean and pleasant for all guests. Plus, your pet will appreciate a consistent spot to explore. It’s conveniently located, well-maintained, and a must-visit part of your stay.

2. Pack the pet essentials

Don’t let Fido forget his suitcase! Be sure to pack:

  • Food and water bowls
  • A favorite blanket or bed
  • Leash and harness
  • Doggy bags for cleanup
  • Medical/vet records if you’re traveling from out of state

It also doesn’t hurt to throw in a squeaky toy or two to keep boredom at bay.

3. Make sure you choose a pet friendly unit

Every rental has its own guidelines. While making your reservation, make sure the unit you’ve selected is pet-friendly (look for the paw print in the top right corner of the unit’s first photo—or simply give us a call to ask!).

In pet-friendly units, up to two well-behaved furry companions are welcome to join your stay. A standard pet fee applies, and we ask that you avoid leaving pets unattended in your unit unless safely crated. Barking fits or chewed-up furniture might sound like minor mischief, but they can cause big problems.

4. Opt for pet friendly restaurants

You don’t have to choose between a great meal and staying by your pup’s side. Lincoln City has some wonderful pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating or pup-approved patios. Check out our curated list here: Pet-Friendly Restaurants in Lincoln City

From waterfront cafes to casual burger joints, you’ll find plenty of spots where both you and your pup can enjoy the view (and maybe a snack or two).

5. Beach etiquette matters

Yes, Lincoln City beaches are dog-friendly, and yes, your dog will lose their mind with joy. But please follow leash rules (especially near other dogs or wildlife), and always clean up after your pet. Many parks have waste bags available for visitors with dogs. Bring extra bags just in case, and be mindful of tides—if your dog isn’t a strong swimmer, keep them close.

And remember: not every dog loves the ocean right away. Ease them in!

6. Plan for pet downtime

Even adventure dogs need a nap. After a big beach walk, give your pet time to decompress in the quiet of your rental. This helps avoid overstimulation and ensures they’re well-behaved when it’s time to go out again. Bonus tip: White noise machines or calming music can help pets adjust to a new environment, especially at night.

7. Leave no pawprint behind

Before checkout, do a quick sweep of your space for pet hair, toys, or forgotten food. We thoroughly clean every unit, but a little courtesy goes a long way in keeping D Sands a welcoming, pet friendly environment for all.

In conclusion: Set yourself up for a smooth, pet friendly stay

We love seeing wagging tails on our property. With a little preparation, your trip to Lincoln City can be as relaxing for your pet as it is for you. From beach romps to patio dining, there’s plenty to bark about. Just follow the tips above and get ready to unleash some fun.
